00:02:19: How was it growing up in Hawaii and growing up at the beach, literally?

00:02:28: With the beach in your front yard?

00:02:30: It was a lot warmer than Germany.

00:02:32: And a lot of it is just having fun outside. We didn't spend much time indoors, really.

00:02:36: Everything you had to do was outside.

00:02:38: Does it get cold ever?

00:02:39: To us, yes. And to the rest of the world, no.

00:02:42: So what do you do when it's a cold day?

00:02:44: You wear a jacket, sweatpants.

00:02:46: But you don't go to the beach when it's cold.

00:02:49: Do you feel more American or more Hawaiian?

00:02:53: American.

00:02:54: How is it to grow up having both of those cultures clash?

00:02:59: Like seeing the Hawaiian culture and the cultural practices,

00:03:03: but then also having the heavy American influence?

00:03:07: Um, mainly a lot of conflicts. Really, I haven't.

00:03:11: I wasn't exposed to much Hawaiian culture at all.

00:03:14: And I barely know any Hawaiian language.

00:03:17: So there's really, it's really just a lot of conflict between the two parties,

00:03:25: the Hawaiian and American.

00:03:28: But like, by the time it got to me, I'm just a blend of it all.

00:03:33: It's your little mix of everything.

00:03:35: Mix of mainly American. Yeah, yeah.

00:03:38: I can't speak any Hawaiian. Or I don't even surf.

00:03:41: You know fewer Hawaiian.

00:03:42: Very little, very little.

00:03:44: What else would be interesting, you think, to Germans?

00:03:47: Oh, interesting things for Germans.

00:03:51: I guess in general all of America is bigger things, but then that's just American.

00:03:58: Did you think a lot about Europe at all before you met me or even Germany?

00:04:04: No. I didn't know anything about Europe, where it was, why it was, when it was, how it was.

00:04:11: Except that it was, it's more exotic. That's the only thing I thought about it.

00:04:17: Which is crazy because we think Hawaii is exotic.

00:04:20: Coming from a small town in Germany.

00:04:23: So what was your favorite thing about Germany?

00:04:27: Culturally or food or drink or whatever was your favorite thing that you experienced there?

00:04:34: So far Christmas market and fast net.

00:04:38: So far, yeah, those two things are incredible.

00:04:42: And the food, the food is also incredible.

00:04:46: We don't have many or any dishes similar to what you guys have.

00:04:51: Well, similar, but nothing like commonly tasting here.

00:04:55: It's all new flavors. Just out of the Hawaiian food is new flavors to us.

00:04:59: Yeah, yeah, exactly, exactly.

00:05:02: Christmas market was fun.

00:05:04: That's okay, that's okay. People will know.

00:05:06: That hot wine, what do you call it?

00:05:08: Clu-vine.

00:05:10: Rot-House beer. That one's good too.

00:05:24: So for you that grew up here and is really used to Hawaii because that's your everyday life.

00:05:33: Do you still feel how this place feels so special and there is a lot of those sacred places?

00:05:41: Does it still feel special to you and is there any of those like culturally significant sacred places that you think are really special in the Hawaiian culture?

00:05:51: Yeah, so answer for me and me only.

00:05:54: But because I didn't really grow up in much Hawaiian culture, I don't have too many places that are sacred.

00:05:59: Aside from the fact that just growing up in a place like this is generally a unique place as far as having sun all the time and good weather and all that.

00:06:14: But as far as sacredness and for me personally, I don't really have too much of a tie to that kind of stuff.

00:06:21: But that could be because if you were to put me in my life in another state, it would be the same.

00:06:32: Like another state in the US, it would be the same.

00:06:35: In other words, I just grew up putting in the school, now I'm working.

00:06:40: There was no like I went to work in the Hawaiian fields or anything like that.

00:06:47: For me personally and for me only, others may have a different experience, but for me, no.

00:06:53: Nothing too sacred, nothing that ties me to Hawaiian culture too much.

00:06:58: I have another question. It's two questions. Do you like Poi?

00:07:03: Yes, I love Poi.

00:07:05: And do the Germans know what Poi is?

00:07:08: The Germans do not know what Poi is.

00:07:11: And I would say any German that tries it, probably has like a 50/50 opinion.

00:07:16: Probably half will hate it and half will love it.

00:07:18: These two loved it and they even had a sour one and they liked that.

00:07:23: It's like half liquid and half solid.

00:07:26: Yeah, we would say it's a slime.

00:07:28: Slime?

00:07:29: Yeah.

00:09:16: And that's because Kate has put together a great tour plan.

00:09:22: She called us a few really, really great spots that we absolutely have to drive.

00:09:28: So is that your favorite spot, personally?

00:09:31: Yes, I've created a list there gradually so that I can bring all friends who are familiar with my highlights of the island closer without having to go on tour.

00:09:46: We noticed that because we had a great spot and you've heard it too. We've already brought some live players.

00:09:52: And maybe you have to explain it a little bit, because I didn't know, I used to think so, Hawaii is like an island, but it's not at all.

00:10:00: So how many islands are there that belong here?

00:10:03: Exactly, there are a total of eight islands that are inhabited. I think there are also several small, scattered islands around Rome, but eight main islands in any case.

00:10:13: And we live on the Triet Crösten, so it's not the Cröste Island, but it's the one with the most inhabitants.

00:10:21: Are all islands accessible for tourists? So you could travel on every island now, or is there still a limitation?

00:10:29: So is it possible that I can go anywhere?

00:10:32: No, you can't go to any of the eight islands. You can go to Oahu, of course, that's where we are right now.

00:10:40: You can go to Maui, to Hawaii, to Big Island, you can also go to Molokai.

00:10:45: You only come to Ni hao with an invitation, and I don't think there are any inhabitants on the other islands anymore.

00:10:54: So you only live in Havaiana on Ni hao? So tourists are not wished?

00:11:00: I haven't decided yet, because I haven't got any invitation yet.

00:11:03: That would be pretty exciting, because you are now, and you get the swing, right?

00:11:09: So we're talking about Hawaii and Kate knows each other very well and can tell us the non-tourist spots here.

00:11:16: That's because you've been living here since 2022, but you live here, right?

00:11:25: Exactly, it was at the beginning of the break-up, and now actually since last year in April, since 2024 in April, I've been here.

00:11:34: I find it very exciting, because it's basically not the goal you have as an emmendinger.

00:11:41: You have to think, how do you get there, or how did you get there?

00:11:47: I want to get away as far as I can.

00:11:50: For me it was the total goal. It was a complete load of childhood things.

00:11:57: I had a lot of kids, surf, posters and Hawaii, Hawaii, Hawaii.

00:12:03: It was always a total topic, although I didn't know any single person who was ever here.

00:12:09: I don't know where that came from, but it was like a red thread that pulled through my whole life.

00:12:14: I then stopped my English degree in Hawaii as a teenager.

00:12:18: It was really a very prominent topic in my life.

00:12:21: I've known all of them since then, and then I made my plans to dive here with Heian at the latest in my 30s.

00:12:30: And you did it?

00:12:31: Yes.

00:12:32: Well, at this point you can ask yourself, what's your name?

00:12:37: Come on, come on, to the pony dreams and lifestyle themes.

00:12:40: What's your personal dream, or have you already achieved it?

00:12:44: Now, here on the beach?

00:12:45: Yes, I definitely have a dream, I would say, that I have come here.

00:12:50: I don't think many people can say that, especially you are still pretty young, I would say,

00:12:55: so that you already have your dream in your pocket and live here.

00:12:59: The question that you ask yourself, what are you actually doing here?

00:13:03: Or how do you survive here? What do you live from?

00:13:06: So that's probably another very interesting question.

00:13:09: What do you do?

00:13:10: Well, I'm a titillator.

00:13:11: Actually, this year, for ten years, I did my self-employment with 23,

00:13:17: actually, I was a titillator, then I had my own studio for five years in Kensington.

00:13:22: Yes, and then through the whole Corona pandemic and the whole lockdowns,

00:13:27: of course, I wanted to travel more.

00:13:29: Because it was so this typical, if you can't do something and you are forbidden,

00:13:33: then you want to go around more and I just wanted to go out more and of course it doesn't work

00:13:36: if you have your own studio.

00:13:38: And then I didn't extend the rent contract and wanted to travel around the world a little bit.

00:13:42: I just couldn't think of it and stayed at Hawaii.

00:13:45: Yes, what is also pretty brave, because if I really understand it now,

00:13:48: then it's up to you to decide it alone.

00:13:50: So you traveled alone and you have to work it all out here alone.

00:13:55: Maybe you can give the listeners, who have now said the listenership,

00:14:00: maybe a tip, how do you get it to pull through for yourself and the plan?

00:14:06: So it's definitely not easy.

00:14:08: You have to spend a lot of time and train and invest everything possible.

00:14:14: It always sounds so easy and it just looks like it, especially on social media.

00:14:19: It's all different than just, yes, you just have to work hard,

00:14:23: despite having your dreams come true, because sometimes they will be too.

00:14:27: Yes, you are the proof for that.

00:15:43: So even after two years I discover new things,

00:15:49: What would interest me now is how your friends, your family would react to it.

00:15:53: When you said, I'm going to get out now, I'm going to break the tent and I'm out.

00:15:59: What was the first reaction?

00:16:01: Well, I think, my mom always knew it.

00:16:05: She just knows me too well that I don't stay in the ending

00:16:10: and that I'm just a total beach girl.

00:16:13: Yes, my friends, family, even my customers probably thought about it.

00:16:19: Because then after the first two years I was here for the first time,

00:16:23: I was always here for longer periods, was then back in Germany,

00:16:26: then it was a little bit half-half.

00:16:28: And then many people asked, will you come back this time?

00:16:32: Will you stay there?

00:16:34: Yes, but I still come regularly.

00:16:38: Just not for that long, because it's too cold.

00:16:41: And did they also confirm you to come here in your wish?

00:16:45: They said, hey, I support you.

00:16:47: Yes, I believe that it's great, do it, Kate.

00:17:26: and your homeland?

00:17:28: Is there anything?

00:17:29: It always depends on what year time it is.

00:17:39: Now it was Christmas, of course, the classic little places,

00:17:44: Linsertorte, I do that here too, but it's just something else,

00:17:49: a little wine and a piece of flame cake on Christmas market

00:17:53: than here at 30--

00:17:54: gerade im Schatten. Ja, ich mein, hauptsächlich vermisse ich natürlich meine Freunde und Familie,

00:18:00: ansonsten tatsächlich gute Lebensmittel, weil Hawaii gehört halt immer noch zu Amerika und

00:18:06: gute hochwertige Lebensmittel zu finden, ist gar nicht mal so einfach. Ja, und wie haben wir auch

00:18:12: gemerkt, das ist ziemlich teuer. Also, ne? Von Wohnen bis Einkaufen, Lebensmittel, das ist ja

00:18:20: unfassbar, also was man da stemmen muss im Grunde, ne? Ja. Ja. Ich glaube, du hast erzählt, eine Gurke

00:18:25: kostet 4 Dollar oder was weitest du von? Ja, ich habe vor kurzem mal nicht auf den Preis geschaut

00:18:31: und hatte dann aus Versehen eine Paprika für 3,50 Dollar, eine einzelne Paprika im Einkaufskorb.

00:18:37: Da überlegt man sich schon, was man kauft, ne? Ist nicht so ein Spontankauf. Und vor allem,

00:18:41: was mir auch aufgefallen ist, dass Essen gehen, ne? Also, Außerhaus ist unheimlich teuer. Also,

00:18:45: für uns erst mal direkt, zumindest die ersten Tage, dachten wir so, wow, für so ein Frühstücksteller,

00:18:49: irgendwie 28 Dollar, das ist schon ein Wort, ne? Für eine Person erst mal so ein bisschen,

00:18:53: hast du ein Frühstück, das war es dann erst mal so, das war der Anfang vom Tag. Also,

00:18:57: hast du das eingeschränkt oder warst du zu Hause auch öfter essen oder wie hat sich das jetzt so,

00:19:01: hat sich da was verändert in deinem Verhalten? Ich koche eigentlich wirklich fast jeden Tag.

00:19:05: Ganz, ganz selten holen wir mal irgendwie to go, take out, essen. Klar, wenn man unterwegs ist,

00:19:12: man will natürlich auch alles probieren. Ihr habt ihr gesehen, es gibt so viele tolle Sachen zu probieren.

00:19:17: Oh ja. Man weiß gar nicht, wo man anfangen soll. Das ist dann schon, aber ich koche schon viel

00:19:23: frisch und bereitsachen vor. Oh, einfach, dass ich weiß, was da alles drin ist. Also, ich

00:19:28: finde es auch mega spannend, was es hier so zu essen gibt. Also, ich für mich persönlich bin ja

00:19:32: sehr essens interessiert, was vielleicht auch an meinem Studienhintergrund legt ursprünglich mal.

00:19:37: Jedenfalls gucke ich mir mal ganz genau an, was es gibt. Und wir haben jetzt einfach in diesen

00:19:42: zwei Tagen hier schon so viele Sachen probiert, die wir nicht kannten. Vorhin haben wir es schon

00:19:47: bei euch im Interview gehört. Poi, das ist ja so ein Stichwort, ne? Das ist, ja, also wir hatten

00:19:54: das dabei, wir hatten so einen hawaianischen Teller und da haben wir so ein kleines Plastikschilchen

00:19:59: dabei gehabt mit so einem, du hast ja, glaube ich, vor allem schon gesagt, so einen Schleim, so ein

00:20:03: rosa Lila Schleim. Ja, so Lavendelfarben. Lavendelgrau. Genau, und es schmeckt ja einfach, ja, wir haben

00:20:14: es schon gehört, es gibt saure Version, nicht so saure. Also sagen wir mal, es schmeckt wie so ein

00:20:18: säuerlicher, ich kann mir das beschreiben, so ein säuerlicher, ganz dünner Kartoffelbrei vielleicht.

00:20:24: Kommt's zuhin? Also, ich finde auch tatsächlich, dass Poi komplett anders schmeckt. Also, man muss

00:20:29: sozusagen Poi wird aus der Taro-Wurzel hergestellt oder traditionell hawaianisch wird das ganze

00:20:36: Carlo-Wurzel genannt und wenn man diese Wurzel rein, nur die Wurzel zubereitet, schmeckt es komplett

00:20:43: anders als dieses Poi. Das schmeckt dann wirklich eher kartoffelig und hat so ein ganz toller

00:20:47: Eigengeschmack, vor allem wenn man das gerade nur so ein bisschen anröstet mit Zwiebel und Butter. Ja,

00:20:53: aber durch das Poi, durch dieses Zerklopfen der Wurzel wird das Ganze haltbar gemacht,

00:20:57: auch dass du diesen Schleim verarbeitest. Ich sage jetzt mal, prei, Schleim hört sich sehr glicker.

00:21:03: Preikin besser. Prei hört sich besser an, aber es ist schon eine Zehe-Konsistenz. Das heißt,

00:21:09: das ist hier aber schon so üblich, also das wird hier jeden Tag gegessen oder wie? Also, ich bin

00:21:15: mir sicher, dass manche Haushalte das jeden Tag essen, ja. Also, wir essen schon sehr oft Carlo,

00:21:21: auch einfach die Wurzels selber dann angebraten oder in so einem, wie so ein Gulasch, so ein

00:21:26: vegetarisches Gulasch dann, so einen Töpfe. Man kann da wirklich viel draus machen, aber Poi selber,

00:21:33: vielleicht nicht jeden Tag, aber man findet es auf jeden Fall auf jeder Familienfeier,

00:21:37: gibt es Poi. Die Familienfeiern sind einfach auch noch mal so ein Stichwort. Du hast ja irgendwie

00:21:42: erzählt, das wird groß gefeiert immer, also das macht man nicht so für sich mit klein. Was passiert

00:21:49: da so auf so einer Feier? Also, gerade wenn man aus Deutschland kommt, ist das schon was sehr Neues,

00:21:54: das ist sehr laut, es wird sehr viel gelacht, getanzt, gesungen, das sind Gitarren ukuliert,

00:22:02: das ist alles am Start, das ganze Essen ist ein ganzes Buffet und die Familien sind halt auch

00:22:09: wahnsinnig groß. Also, traditionell sind hier sehr große Familien, das heißt, es sind immer

00:22:14: wahnsinnig viele Leute und es ist einfach sehr laut und wild. Ist es dann dieses, wie heißt das

00:22:19: Luau Essen? Was hat das damit, habe ich irgendwo auch gelesen, was ist das dann oder ist es diese

00:22:25: Tanzveranstaltung? Ja, Luau ist so ein Überbegriff für quasi eine Feier, eine Party. Also es kann

00:22:32: was Bestimmtes sein, das Luau, wie man es jetzt hier so sieht, wenn man das auf einem Werbeschild

00:22:37: sieht, dann ist das einfach so eine touristen Veranstaltung, wo Tänze gezeigt werden, wo es

00:22:41: dann das traditionelle Essen gibt. Ja, aber so Familienfestig kann man schon auch Luau nennen,

00:22:47: ja, so ein Überbegriff für alles. Jetzt auch so ein Stichwort Familienfeste, wie wurdest du denn hier

00:22:51: so aufgenommen von den oder auf den Familienfesten und von, also Exot, wir hatten es früher schon

00:22:57: mal gehört von Reston, meint ihr so, ja Deutschland, Europa, ja ist halt weit weg. Wie verhalten

00:23:02: die sich dir gegenüber, sagen die, wow du bist total exotisch, krass, die sind interessiert, was

00:23:07: ist da los, kulturell interessiert? Also der ganz, ganz große Punkt ist immer, wie man sich selbst

00:23:13: verhält in der Situation. Gerade auf Hawaii, wenn man sich interessiert, also wenn man wirklich

00:23:19: interessiert ist an der Kultur hier und an dem was hier alles passiert, dann wird man auch gut

00:23:25: aufgenommen. Wenn man sehr ignorant ist und einfach nur sein Ding durchziehen will, wird man nicht so

00:23:30: gut aufgenommen. Dadurch, dass mich das alles sehr interessiert und ich das wahnsinnig respektiere,

00:23:36: habe ich da nie irgendwie Probleme gehabt, dass ich da mich als Außenzeit dafür da irgendwie

00:23:40: nicht aufgenommen werde, also ich habe da gut Anschluss gefunden. Zum Thema Anschluss, ich

00:23:46: fand es auch so ganz charmant, weil Preston ja meinte, du bist eigentlich mehr Hawaiianerin als

00:23:50: eher Hawaiianer, und das liegt vielleicht auch daran, weil du ja, wie du erzählt hast, so sehr

00:23:56: viele kulturelle Sachen auch mitnimmst. Also was ich ganz toll finde, ist zum Beispiel, dass du ja

00:24:01: auf so einer Farm mitarbeitest, als Freiwillig, also so freiwilligen Arbeit, richtig? Genau, das ist

00:24:08: quasi eine gemeinnützige Organisation, da wird dieser Carlo, also die Wurzel, aus der dann auch

00:24:15: dieser Brei hergestellt wird. Schleim, oder? Schleim, das möchte keiner mehr probieren. Aber das ist

00:24:22: wirklich sehr, sehr, sehr fein, also das ist wirklich gut. Alle, die hier am Tisch sitzen, finden es

00:24:26: lecker. Ja, das stimmt. Genau, da bauen wir das Ganze an in einem traditionellen Ahupua, das ist ein

00:24:35: Bewässerungssystem, also man kann den Carlo im trockenen Anbau auf einem ganz normalen Ackerfeld,

00:24:46: gesehen, eure Zubereize hat noch nie. Ich bin da wirklich komplett voll mit Schlamm, da stehst

00:24:51: ich so Knie, Hüft hoch, teilweise im Schlamm, und dann hat man so kleine Hügelchen, und in jedem

00:24:56: kleinen Hügelchen steckt dann eine Pflanze drin, und nach neun Monaten wird die dann geerntet.

00:25:01: Dann kann man Poi draus machen. Und du hast ein frisches Tarot, ist das ja quasi eigentlich, ne?

00:25:07: Gerne. Also so kennt man es vielleicht eher auch bei uns. Hast du dann immer frisch für dich hier zu Hause?

00:25:12: Genau, also ich kann auch hingehen und mehr was ernten dann so schnell, wenn ich was möchte.

00:25:17: Ja und das zweite ist, was du erzählst, dass du Hula tanzt.

00:25:21: Ich habe mich ja ein bisschen schlau gemacht und gelesen, eigentlich war das für ein Männer-Tanz,

00:25:34: ne? Ganz früher, oder? Weil ich erzähl doch mal was das ist.

00:25:37: Ich glaube ja, ganz ganz früher, ich kenne mich mit der Geschichte gar nicht so gut aus,

00:25:41: vielleicht könnt ihr mir dann noch was ächeln.

00:25:43: Wir haben ja so ein Reiseführer dabei, ne? Der ist nicht schlecht.

00:25:46: Also das heißt du bist so in einer Gruppe dann, oder?

00:25:49: Genau, das ist einmal in der Woche. Ist aber auch total, wenn man da mal in zwei, drei Wochen nicht kommt.

00:25:54: Ich bin ja auch regelmäßig in Deutschland, dann verpasst ich natürlich ein bisschen was.

00:25:57: Ja, aber sonst üben wir da unsere Tänze. Da gibt es so ein paar Grundschritte einfach,

00:26:02: so Basics, die man lernt und dann wird das Ganze kombiniert zu einem Tanz,

00:26:06: zu traditioneller Musik oder auch zu schnellerer Musik, also ganz unterschiedlich.

00:26:11: Und bist du da die einzige Europäerin oder ist das, wie ist das, ist es so gemischt?

00:26:16: Also ich bin die einzige Europäerin, ich bin aber nicht die einzige Weiße in der Gruppe.

00:26:22: Also wir haben tatsächlich Hawaiianer oder wie es hier genannt wird, Kanaka Maoli in der Gruppe,

00:26:29: dann haben wir noch ein paar, wie Expressen, die so ein bisschen Hawaiianisch, Samoanisch,

00:26:34: so ein bisschen alles in sie stecken haben.

00:26:37: Und aber auch Weiße vom Feschland in Amerika, die halt hierher gezogen sind,

00:26:42: entweder ganz frisch, jetzt relativ so wie ich oder halt auch schon seit Jahren einfach hier wohnen,

00:26:47: in ihrer Heimat hier haben. Also es ist eine ganz wild gemischte Gruppe.

00:26:50: So eigentlich trägst du ziemlich zum Mix-By eigentlich auch, umgekehrt haben wir auch schon gehört.

00:26:56: Preston ist ja großer Fan der Rahmsoße, also der typischen, weiß ich, mit Spätzle oder mit was?

00:27:03: Ja, alles mit Rahmsoße, Hauptsache Rahmsoße, egal was.

00:27:07: Ich fand es irgendwie so charmant, weil du uns erzählt hast, dass du hier auch einfach Linsertorte mal backst

00:27:13: oder Flammkuchen oder halt so diese typischen und Preston das auch feiert irgendwie.

00:27:19: Ja klar, so wie ihr jetzt halt die hawaianischen Sachen interessant findet,

00:27:24: finden hier halt die Leute dann mal ein Flammkuchen total spannend, weil sie sich kennen.

00:27:28: Ich könnte es ja mal noch so ein badisches Restaurant aufmachen hier.

00:27:31: Ich habe es mir schon oft gedacht, aber ich glaube, ich bleibe beim Tätövieren, das ist wahrscheinlich besser für alle.

00:27:36: Oh, für mich. Es ist ganz gut, wenn du da gekocht hast. Also mal sehen.

00:27:41: Wenn ich jetzt Lust habe auf eine Tätowierung, könnte ich dich jetzt wo finden hier auf der Insel?

00:27:48: Also wenn ich jetzt die Reise machen möchte?

00:27:50: Genau, also man findet mich auch noch in Deutschland.

00:27:53: Aber wenn man in Hawaii ist, dann findet man mich in Kailua, auf der Insel Oaxau.

00:27:58: In Herbalzheim.

00:27:59: Also im Ländle quasi?

00:28:02: Genau, im Ländle. Bei Blackwell wird in Herbalzheim bei meiner Freundin Kim.

00:28:07: Also ich muss sagen, ich finde dich einfach super und dein Leben so spannend.

00:28:12: Also ich glaube, es ist so 1000 Fragen, also mir würden noch ganz viel einfallen.

00:28:16: Eine Sache, schiebe ich die ganze Zeit schon mal vor mir,

00:28:19: du hast vorhin kurz Weihnachten erwähnt.

00:28:21: Jetzt wollte ich gerne mal wissen, wie ihr das hier überhaupt verbracht habt.

00:28:24: Hier ist ja auch, ja, erzähl mal.

00:28:26: Genau, ich war ja an Weihnachten dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal hier,

00:28:30: das war mein erstes Weihnachten auf der Insel.

00:28:32: Wir haben dann einfach eine von unseren Zimmerpflanzen geschmückt.

00:28:37: Es gibt zwar auch Weihnachtsbäume, aber es passt irgendwie hier nicht hin.

00:28:41: Es sieht besser aus an so einem Palme-Ding.

00:28:45: Genau, dann waren wir bei Prestons Familie und da wurde natürlich dann auch

00:28:50: eine große Party, auch so ein bisschen der amerikanische Einfluss mit wirklich krass geschmücktem Baum.

00:28:57: Sehr viele Geschenke.

00:28:59: So ein bisschen kitschig, fast schon, werden wir jetzt sagen, alles sehr bunt.

00:29:03: Und dann wird natürlich auch die Ukulele ausgepackt

00:29:05: und es wird natürlich auch eine Melchalicima-Kakasung.

00:29:07: Wow, ist da auch der 24. gar nicht so relevant, wie jetzt eben in der USA ist,

00:29:12: die feiern ja nicht am 24. in Heiligen Abend, das sind nicht das Hauptdatum, ne?

00:29:16: Ja, das ist schon Familie zu Familie so ein bisschen unterschiedlich.

00:29:19: Eigentlich wie bei uns ja auch, dass manche Familien wirklich am 24.

00:29:23: Manche eher am 1. und am 2. Weihnachtsfeiertag bei Prestons Familie,

00:29:27: so dass die auch am 24. Abends feiern und am 25. Morgens,

00:29:32: an dem eigentlich der Rest von Amerika feiert,

00:29:35: ist dann bei ihnen jetzt auch nichts groß, ein bisschen Frühstück zusammenhalten.

00:29:40: Aber Hauptsache, 24. Abends. Also eigentlich so wie ein Emdinger.

00:29:44: Also, gibt es hier auch irgend so ein Fest, was groß gefeiert wird auf der Insel,

00:29:48: was wir jetzt nicht so kennen?

00:29:50: Es gibt sehr viel asiatische Einwanderer hier auch,

00:29:55: das heißt, wir haben sehr viel, jetzt war gerade erst das chinesische Neujahr, glaube ich,

00:29:59: wenn ich es richtig im Kopf habe, da habe ich auch viel Deko gesehen,

00:30:02: als ich euch noch weiglich gifahren habe.

00:30:05: Aber sonst fällt mir jetzt gerade nichts Spezielles ein.

00:30:10: Ja, ich muss einmal noch zurückkommen zum Thema Schildkröte,

00:30:14: weil wir hatten heute wirklich ein mega, mega schönes Erlebnis.

00:30:18: Und Kate hat uns einfach, wir verraten euch nicht wo, das dürfen wir auch nicht,

00:30:22: weil manche Plätze müssen geschützt werden.

00:30:25: Aber sie hat uns einfach einen Platz gezeigt,

00:30:28: und das müsst ihr euch vorstellen, da geht man an den Strand

00:30:31: und du hast so diesen fast orangen, gollenden Sand einfach

00:30:35: und super schönen Sonnenuntergang, und dann sind wir an den Strand gegangen

00:30:39: und plötzlich sitzt dort einfach ganz entspannt eine riesige Schildkröte.

00:30:45: Ich weiß nicht, das sind so Meeresschildkröten.

00:30:48: Grüne Meeresschildkröte war das, genau.

00:30:50: Und das Tolles, wenn man jetzt nicht genau guckt,

00:30:52: könnte man die fast für ein Stein halten,

00:30:54: weil die sind so fast so antrazidfarben, würde ich sagen,

00:30:57: und verschwinden so in dieser Natur, aber das sind einfach riesig.

00:31:00: Also wie groß sind die? 50, 60 Zentimeter lang bestimmt,

00:31:04: oder noch länger, oder 80?

00:31:06: Die war größer, die war groß.

00:31:08: Wir haben halt nur den offiziellen Abstand gehalten,

00:31:11: von weiter weg sehen die dann nicht so groß auf.

00:31:13: Aber das war schon eine große, die war bestimmt schon ein Meter,

00:31:17: wenn nicht sogar noch größer.

00:31:19: Ja, ich würde auch sagen so ein 140, ein 50 sogar.

00:31:21: Ja, die war schon über ein Meter, ja.

00:31:23: Du hast ja auch erzählt, dass du eben, ja, da sitzt du manchmal,

00:31:26: weiß nicht, was du da machst, Buch lesen und keine Ahnung.

00:31:28: Ich zeichne da auch oft, ich nehme mein iPad mit und zeichne,

00:31:30: dann da meine Tattooentwürfe.

00:31:32: Und dann meintest du, Schwimmter teilweise einfach bis zu 10

00:31:35: und dann ist das schon ein riesiges Schildkröten im Wasser.

00:31:38: Also schon ein toller Ort da.

00:31:40: Ja, das sind immer sehr viele Schildkröten.

00:31:42: Aber es gibt auch Strände, wo das eben offiziell bekannt ist,

00:31:45: und da hat man natürlich dann so ein paar mehr Leute,

00:31:48: also da sind wir davor auch tatsächlich durchgekommen,

00:31:51: dann stehen halt aber wirklich schon so 20, 30 Leute

00:31:54: um so eine Schildkröte.

00:31:56: Und es ist dann doch schon sehr besonders,

00:31:58: wenn man eben gezeigt bekommt, wo man so ganz alleine,

00:32:01: einfach am Stratten mal eine treffen kann.

00:32:03: Ja, und das sind wahrscheinlich auch so die Highlights hier,

00:32:05: so die Natur.

00:32:07: Die Natur-Atem-Berauben,

00:32:09: ihr habt ja auch schon erzählt, dass ihr über die Straße gefahren seid

00:32:11: und dann die ganzen Wasserfälle gesehen habt,

00:32:14: was sehr selten ist, was ich gar nicht so bewusst war.

00:32:18: Nee, wir dachten, das wäre nochmal.

00:32:20: Aber es hat sehr viel geregnet, normalerweise regnet es hier,

00:32:23: natürlich nicht viel, wenn man sich denken kann.

00:32:25: Und deshalb sieht man diese Wasserfälle nur ganz selten.

00:32:28: Ich habe die in den letzten zwei Jahren nur zwei Mal gesehen,

00:32:31: drei Mal vielleicht.

00:32:33: Also da habt ihr echt trotz schlechtem Wetter immerhin da,

00:32:35: was Schönes dann erlebt.

00:32:37: Also für uns ist jetzt einfach auch das Resümee, sag ich mal.

00:32:40: Wir waren jetzt zwei Tage einfach nur, hatten wir hier nur Zeit

00:32:43: und sind zur Hälfte um die Insel herumgefahren.

00:32:46: Es sind einfach waren schon so unfassbar schöne Spots,

00:32:49: die wir besucht haben.

00:32:51: Und ja, also ich glaube, wir müssen einfach wiederkommen,

00:32:54: weil wenn ihr hier herfahrt, wenn ihr nach Hawaii fahrt,

00:32:57: nehmt euch Zeit.

00:32:59: Das ist unfassbar.

00:33:01: Also es ist wirklich so hinter jeder Straßenecke,

00:33:03: wartet eine neue Überraschung,

00:33:05: wartet ein neuer toller Foodtruck,

00:33:07: wo ihr einfach super leckeres Essen bekommt.

00:33:10: Und man kann sich gar nicht entscheiden,

00:33:12: fährt man jetzt ins Landesinnere,

00:33:14: in den totalen so urweit aussehende, üppige Landschaft

00:33:18: oder bleibt man am Strand und schaut sich die Surfer an.

00:33:21: Und ja, für uns ist klar, wir kommen wieder.

00:33:25: Und was man vielleicht auch sagen darf,

00:33:28: Kate kommt auch erst mal nach Mding, nämlich.

00:33:31: Und vielleicht machen wir so ein kleines Meet and Greet

00:33:34: im Hinterhaus, zum Beispiel unserer Stammkneipe.

00:33:37: Gibt es eine Autogrammstunde vielleicht sogar?

00:33:39: Das wäre doch mal was.

00:33:41: Zumindest könnte man sie befragen, wie man es schafft,

00:33:44: einfach diesen Schritt zu gehen und auf Hawaii zu leben.

00:33:47: Also ich finde es großartig.

00:33:49: Und ich finde es toll, dass du dir die Zeit auch für uns genommen hast,

00:33:52: weil ihr habt hier viel zu tun, wie wir sehen.

00:33:55: Und man arbeitet auch super viel mit seiner Firma,

00:33:58: die er gerade gegründet hat.

00:34:00: Vor zwei Jahren jetzt, ja.

00:34:02: Jetzt aktuell ist er nämlich auch schon wieder verschwunden hier vom Tisch,

00:34:05: weil er noch einen Call hatte und einfach super, super viel arbeitet.

00:34:08: Fenster und Türen sagt er, ne?

00:34:10: Genau, er hat eine Fenster und Türenfirma.

00:34:13: Aber schon mit einigen Mitarbeitern und viel Verantwortung,

00:34:16: also auch echt beeindruckend.

00:34:18: Deswegen hört er ihn auch nicht mehr hinten dran, weil er arbeiten muss.

00:34:21: So, ich gebe noch mal das Mikrofone jetzt weiter an Ben.

00:34:24: Ganz kurz abschließend wollte ich ja noch mal zur Insel sagen hier.

00:34:27: Wir waren ja viel unterwegs, wie ihr auch wisst.

00:34:31: Und haben viel schon gesehen.

00:34:33: Aber das hier war doch noch mal, das heißt ja immer so,

00:34:36: man sollte über den Tellerrand mal hinaus schauen.

00:34:38: Und das erste Mal in meinem Leben habe ich das Gefühl,

00:34:40: dass das wirklich bleibt.

00:34:42: Morgen früh, deswegen müssen wir uns jetzt auch gleich auf den Rückweg machen,

00:34:45: weil mittlerweile ist es einfach schon ein bisschen spät gewonnen.

00:34:48: Und wir haben noch den Mietwagen, den wir abgeben müssen.

00:34:50: Also wir werden uns morgen früh zum Flughafen begeben.

00:34:53: Und um 9.40 Uhr nach Kauwaifling.
